The Rose Bowl's massive oval shape means sightlines vary significantly by section. Sections 1–15 on the west side offer the best afternoon shade, which matters immensely for early-season games when Pasadena temperatures can exceed 90°F.

The UCLA student section is in Sections 26–28 on the south end. Visiting fans are typically placed in the north end zones around Sections 13–17.

Sun & Shade
For the best overall views, aim for Rows 40–55 on the sidelines — high enough for perspective but close enough to feel the action. Lower rows in the end zones can feel distant from midfield play.

PRO TIP
Choose west-side sections (1–12) for afternoon shade — the east side bakes in direct sunlight for early-season kickoffs.
